Front Range attracts great people of all varieties from every walk of life, and Dustin’s no exception; having grown up attending a lit high school, using his aptitude for writing and working with computers in everything from emails to friends around the world to professional academic correspondences, as well as being a person naturally inclined towards organization and the use of lists, Dustin has a lot to contribute in his second year at FRCC. Growing up in Steamboat Springs, Dustin had the opportunity to attend a private literacy oriented high school. Through their education programs, he attained a strong command over the English language at the highest academic levels, while also gaining an appreciation for writing as an art form. In his adult life he adapted more utilitarian uses of writing to his everyday routine, primarily through the mediums of email and to-do lists. Email is a significant tool he uses to communicate with people and friends from around the world that he’s met during his rock-climbing travels, (Africa, Europe, much of Colorado and the U.S.), and he uses lists to stay organized and focused on his goals. Dustin is a well-traveled man, and yet he has still found the time to not only become a professional rock-climber, but a certified EMT. The demands of his work are heavy, and this has led him to pursue further education at FRCC with the goal of becoming an ER Nurse. Dustin’s personal goals and mine run parallel in the sense that we both want to gain a solid understanding of MLA Citation, improve our overall writing skills, and have a successful semester.
