Chapter 3 Response
To understand how to write an essay one must know the basics of what makes an essay, that is the introduction, body paragraphs, and the conclusion. What makes the introduction so special is that its meant to draw the reader in and make them think other wise no body is gonna wanna continue reading. Now what people misunderstand about introductions is that there isn't one specific way to write an introduction but many different ways. That's, for the most of my high school career, is something I never really grasped with my writing and therefore, it affected my grade due to the lack of unification between my paragraphs and my introduction. In the reading, I found that whatever type of introduction you choose, the body paragraphs are gonna be different from based on the format you choose.
The body paragraphs are the key supporting points that your introduction needs to prove why your thesis statement is the right one. To make a body paragraph great, it needs to be unified to your introduction as well as the other body paragraphs. What I mean by this is that they should all support the main idea and not dispute it, even though your trying to show your idea is better, that doesn't mean you should contradict yourself. Something like this will confuse the reader and turn them away. Now the body Paragraphs should also be coherent enough that your reader can follow quickly and smoothly without having to back track ever other sentence just to understand the key point. If all of this is done correctly, there shouldn't be anything wrong with understanding your supporting arguments.
Finally, the conclusion which should be short, sweet and to the point. The point of the conclusion is to restate your thesis. Now that doesn't mean it should be copied and pasted into your conclusion, but it should still support your originally argument. The rest of the conclusion however, can be written different ways but the easiest is to re-introduce the key points of the essay and how in the end your main idea is the right one.
